Failed to create the Service Connection Point error during installation

This article describes the symptoms and cause of a known error about a failure to create Service Connection point during installation of Email Signature Manager. This article also describes the resolution for this issue.


During installation of Email Signature Manager the following error occurs:

Failed to create the Service Connection Point: Unknown error (0x80005000)


The Email Signature Manager installer attempts to update Active Directory with a Service Connection Point for the Email Signature Manager Client Access Service, but fails due to missing permissions.


Run the Email Signature Manager installer as a Domain Administrator.


The problem is resolved as described above.

The installer will be updated to verify permissions in a future version.
