SUMMARY
This article describes the symptoms and cause of a problem where the Email Signature Manager Service fails to update OWA signatures on Exchange Server 2007. This article also describes the resolution for this issue.
SYMPTOMS
The Email Signature Manager Service fails to update OWA signatures on Exchange Server 2007 with the following error information showing for users in the Status Monitor dialog:
Deploying signature 'Standard Signature'.
User data loaded from Active Directory.
WARNING: This signature contains UNC images.
Installing to OWA.
Updating via MAPI using 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Symprex\Email Signature Manager\SignMAPI64.exe' v7.X.X.XXX.
ERROR: Failed to install signature via MAPI: Logon as user 'SymprexSVC' failed with error code 1385 (0x00000569: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.)
Errors occurred deploying the signature.
CAUSE
The mailbox access account ("SymprexSVC" in the above example) specified in Environment Configuration has not been assigned the Log on as a service right.
RESOLUTION
To solve the above problem, assign the Log on as a service right to the mailbox account specified in the Environment Configuration dialog.

STATUS
The problem is due to missing configuration.
The problem is resolved as described above.
