Generate a debug log file for the Folder Permissions Manager command line tool

When troubleshooting a problem with the Folder Permissions Manager command line tool, you may be asked by Symprex technical support to generate a debug log file.

Follow the steps below to generate the debug log file:

  1. Start a command prompt.
  2. Change directory to where the application is installed; default this is:
    C:\Program Files\Symprex\Folder Permissions Manager
  3. Execute the command below where <arguments> are the command line arguments for the tool to reproduce the problem:
    fpmcmd.exe /LogFile=C:\Temp\FPMCMD.log.txt /Verbose /RawData <arguments>
  4. Wait for the command to complete; if not responsive, use Windows Task Manager to terminate.
  5. Locate the log file and compress it into a zip file.

When you have completed the steps, send the zip file to Symprex technical support.

Important

The path you specify for the log file must exist and you must have read/write permission.

The log file can grow very large and minimum 500MB free disk space is recommended.
